Fairbanks Superior Court

The Fourth judicial district of Alaska includes the Fairbanks Superior Court. The major roads in the Fairbank area are Robert Mitchell expressway (SR 3), Richardson highway (SR 2), Steese expressway and Johansen expressway.

With an Italian immigrant's gold strike around 1902 and a far sighted gentleman's desire to build a trading post on the banks of the Chena river, prospectors and other fortune seekers came pouring into Fairbanks. Evideence of this thirst for gold can still be seen in modern day mining operations, the large public display of gold at the University of Alaska Museum of the North and the monument to Pedro the discoverer of gold. At various sites around the city you can try panning for gold. At any given time of the year you can choose to be entertained by attending the performances of the North Star Ballet, Opera Fairbanks, the Fairbanks Light Opera Theatre, the Fairbanks Symphony, the Fairbanks Drama Association and the Children's Theatre. At the University of Alaska museum you can see exhibits such as the Gallery of Alaska which will introduce you to the objects and artifacts, people, wildlife, geography and history of the five major geographic regions of Alaska; Rose Berry Alaska Art Gallery with 2,000 years of Alaska art, traditional and modern and a 36,000 year-old Pleistocene steppe bison mummy.
