Kodiak Superior Court is part of the Third judicial district of Alaska. Among the major roads in the Kodiak area are Monashka Bay road, Marine way and Mill Bay road.
About the area
Kodiak island sits in two bays, Chiniak and Marmot. The city owns and maintains a teen center, indoor swimming pool and ice rink. The Kodiak National Wildlife refuge is located on Kodiak island and takes up a large part of the area. Fort Abercrombie State park is the site of the ruins of a World War II coastal defense installation. Steep cliffs, deep spruce forests, meadows laden with wildflowers and a lake containing trout contribute to the natural beauty of the park. Campsites in this park are designed to accommodate tent campers. In the heart of downtown Kodiak you can find the Alutiiq museum in the Alutiiq center. The museum draws from its over 250,000 items, related to the Alutiiq people, to present its exhibits including the archaeological, photographic, ethnographic, film and audio recordings, archival and natural history collections. At the Kodiak Laboratory aquarium you will find a freestanding 3500 gallon aquarium and a touch tank where you may handle intertidal organisms which represent the major marine invertebrate phyla in the region.
