Kotzebue Superior Court is located in the Second judicial district of Alaska. Major streets in Kotzebue are Ted Stevens way, shore avenue and Third avenue.
About the area
Kotzebue is located on the Baldwin Penninsula in the Kotzebue sound. Supplies come through this city to supply 10 satellite villages in the Northwest Arctic Borough and one in the North Slope Borough which are populated by mostly Native Alaskans. The sound was discovered around 1818 by an explorer, for whom it is named, working for Russia. It became a trading post for the local natives whom it served for many years. Just before the end of the 19th century a post office was established. Cape Krusenstern National monument lies just North of Kotzebue. It's a remote parcel of land which is is home to the Inupiat. You are apt to see Moose, caribou and musk oxen appear and in the Summer migratory birds come to nest. It is not an easy place to get to; no roads, trails, campgrounds or other facilities here but you can charter a flight or airboat from the visitor center in Kotzebue. Just be sure to bring very warm clothing to cope with the extreme cold and high winds.
