Yakutat District Court

Yakutat District Court is in the First judicial district of Alaska. Major street in Yakutat area are Max Italio drive and Mallott avenue.

The city and borough of Yakutat lies on the northern coast of the Gulf of Alaska. It depends on the daily commercial jet service for contact with Juneau, Cordova, Anchorage and Seattle since there is no road or rail access to the area. Cruise ship stops are another source of contact. The railway that existed here at one time, the the Yakutat & Southern railroad, was built to service the cannery at Yakutat. The tannery is still in operation but what remains of the railway sits at at a city park; although the U.S. Army utilized the railroad for transportation of goverment materials in the construction of an airfield and garrison a few miles Souhteast of Yakutat. Although the cannery now ships its products via Alaska airlines it is recognized that the railway above all else contributed to the economic growth and development of the small town of Yakutat.
