The 6,600-foot runway with a full-length taxiway, augmented by a new automated weather station at the H.L. âSonnyâ Callahan Airport in Fairhope can service a full range of propeller and jet traffic in good weather or bad. At a recent annual air show at the field a military C-17 heavy cargo transport was easily able to land and maneuver. WAAS capability and instrument approaches are available into the airport. The popular Fairhope pier is complemented with a surrounding park, including duck ponds, a beautiful water fountain and a rose garden, One of the events at the pier is a Jubilee when fish come in to the beach by the thousands available to one and to catch as many as they can. |
