About the area |
Eufaula lies along the Walter F. George reservoir and the border with Georgia. The annual Eufaula Pilgrimage starts at the Shorter Mansion and continues with tours of homes, gardens, and churches as well as many other events intended to showcase the history of the town. The Shorter Mansion in its original shape was built in the 1880's. A renovation, which started at the beginning of the 20th century, and lasted 5 years, resulted in its transformation into a Greek Revival mansion ending up on the National Register. The economic base of Eufaula is a mix of tourism, light manufacturing, industry, service and agriculture. The major agriculture products of the region include peanuts, cotton, cattle and timber. The manufacture of steel buildings to paper products constitute the range of industries in the Eufaula area. |
