About the area

If you have any curiosity about what an old time jail looked like; then by all means visit the oldest surviving jail in the state, the Pauly Jail, built towards the end of the 19th century. It is so named because the builder was the Pauly Jail Building and Manufacturing Company and now serves as a museum. The Red Door Theatre housed in the former Trinity Episcopal Church; most recently presented plays by Alabamians, about Alabamians or set in Alabama.
