About the area

Cottonwood has the distiction of being the first town established in Houston County after it was formed early in the 20th century. Soon after the incorporation of Cottonwood; general stores, a bank and mills were established. Two lumber companies constructed logging railroads through the town; one of which remained in use until the 1940's. If you were to stroll in downtown Cottonwood today; it would not look much different than it did in the 1950's.
