The city of Opelika has three major roads running through it; SR 15, SR 38 and US 431. At the Southern edge of the city you will find IS 85 which runs coincidently with US 280. |
| About the area |
This city has some very nice parks for the enjoyment of its residents. Municipal Park, which is located next to the Opelika Recreation center, with Rocky Brook Creek meandering through it is a pleasant place for a picnic at the park's shelter or gazebo. Riding the vintage Rocky Brook Rocket small scale train is a lot of fun for kids and adults. Spring Villa, a park covering close to 350 acres, is equipped with volley-ball courts, horseshoe pit, campground with hookups, a campground lodge , outside band stand, nature trails. And you can come here to picnic at the tables and grills among the wooded areas and in the picnic shelters. There is also a wonderful antebellum house located in the park. Annual Freedom Celebration held each year in July 1 is a night of fun and excitement includes musical entertainment, skydivers, food and a large fireworks display.
