About the area |
The City of Athens has two wonderful recreational facilties in addition to five city parks; its Recreation Center and Sportsplex. The center is equipped with a full size gym, multi-purpose rooms, and a raquetball court in addition to an outdoor walking track that departs from the center, circles several buildings in town and circles back to the center inviting walkers to stretch their legs. Residents of Athens and the surrounding area can enjoy outdoor sports and recreation at the state of the art Sportplex facility. There are baseball fields for Youth and older players, one regulation high school baseball field, several adult softball fields, several soccer fields, the Municipal swimming pool and a 19 hole Disc Golf course.
