About the area

Just prior to 1820, the town of Linden was surveyed although its original name was Marengo. Soon afterward; lots were sold and the name was changed to Linden by early French immigrants. During the 1840’s Linden still had only 160 residents, a wooden jail, two small stores and a barbershop. Just after the start of the 20th century the Louisville and Nashville Railroad completed track South of the original town causing the town to move near the depot as businesses relocated to serve railroad customers. The Linden Country Club is a private club located to the Southeast of the city. The golf course is nine holes over more than 3100 yards.
