Founders of this town knew their Bible; the city was named for the husband of Ruth, a character in the Old Testament. Located atop the Sand Mountain Plateau; the city was not incorporated until the late 1890's. Although its early economy was primarily in the agricultural sector; it now has moved to an industrial base. The main campus of Snead State Community College is located in Boaz. |
