About the area
The Old Courthouse Museum has been restored to its 1930s appearance and its courtroom was used by Harper Lee as the model for the fictional courtroom settings in her book "To Kill a Mockingbird". Besides the courtroom the museum houses three exhibits: Old Courthouse: Heart of the Community, Truman Capote: A Childhood in Monroeville, and Harper Lee: In Her Own Words. The the Hybart House is a villa built in a 1920s Mediterranean Spanish architectural style with columns made of stones from Limestone. This museum houses a collection of approximately 2000 oral history interviews.
