The Pickensville Recreation Area lies just west of the city on Aliceville Lake of the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway which is a navigable link between the lower Tennessee Valley and the Gulf of
Mexico. The is a wonderful place to camp with campground which offers more than 170 sites with concrete pads, picnic tables, grills, lantern posts, fire rings, electrical and water hookups. . There are also handicapped/special access sites and facilities, sewer connections or sewage dump station, laundry facilities, restrooms and hot showers. For those wihing to come for a day trip there are facilities which include picnic sites, restrooms, play area, a swimming beach, boat ramps, fishing piers, a fish cleaning station, and two picnic shelters.
