Many residents spend an afternoon enjoying a stroll through the Akridge Arboretum in Calera. If you tire; rest a while on the benches here and mingle with nature in peace and quiet. Railroad buffs all want to come to Calera's Heart of Dixie Railroad Museum. Here they can savor the romance of the rails with the sight of the operating standard gauge and narrow gauge trains and two restored depots. Indoor exhibits feature a collection of railroad artifacts and memorabilia and outdoors you can enjoy a seeing the collection of railroad cars, locomotives, and cabooses.
