| About the area |
Childersburg considers itself the Oldest City in America with a start about 1540 although it was only as a village of the Coosa Nation. The Butler-Harris-Rainwater Museum located in the the "Rainwater House", so named for its last owner at the time of its acqisition by the city, is a museum of artifacts representing Childersburg's long history. The house was probably built in the 1870's. Visitors will want to go to the DeSoto Caverns Family Fun Park to tour the caverns and see the Laser light, sound and water show. The other attractions here attractions include a three-quarter acre Lost Trail Maze, Panning for Gemstones, and the Wacky Water Golf.
