Magnolia County Court

Magnolia County Court serves as the county court of Columbia county. It can be found in the same building as the Magnolia circuit court.

If you have never seen garden tiller races then you must come and World Championship Rotary Tiller race at the annual Emerson PurpleHull Pea Festival in nearby Emerson, to the South of town, every June. PurpleHull Peas are related to black-eyed peas and are members of the "cow pea" or "southern pea" family, The cow pea originated in Africa and was brought to the U.S. by slaves. Eventually the general population appreciated these peas of which the Purple Hull Pea is the elite. So of course at this festival there is going to be a PurpleHull Pea cook off and Shelling competition. That is not to say that will not be lots of other fun happenings such as the Talent show, the Pea-Stompin' Street dance, the Million Tiller parade (with less than a million tillers) and the fireworks. Closer to home and devoted to the arts there is the Music With Friends event and the Magnolia Arts Play Reader's Club presentations at the Magnolia Arts center and Poetry in the Streets week.
