The annual Esperanza Bonanza festival is celebrated on the first full weekend of May at the Marion Recreational complex. This event features live music each night of the festival at the main stage, a barbecue contest, a rodeo with seven competitions, a golf scramble held at the Marion Golf and Athletic
club, a carnival and games for adults and kids. This festival started when asmall group of local businesses getting together to cook barbecue and to remember Marion's heritage as the site of Fort Esperanza which was the first European settlement in Marion's heritage as the site of Fort Esperanza, the first European settlement in Crittenden County. |
