| About the area |
Although Vilonia began as a farming community and had a cotton gin and a gristmill; little remains of the
agriculture part of the city's economy and no industry at all. An historic home that in the early 1900's was a dormitory for the Arkansas Holiness College is now the home of the Museum of Veterans and Military History in Vilonia. Memorabilia from many wars and items from every era are displayed in the museum.
They include everything from uniforms to a World War II generator, shrapnel from Iraq, a small stove used behind enemy lines for sterilizing dental equipment, prayer flags from Japan, medals, guns and other weapons. Mannequins though the museum wear the uniforms displayed.
