| About the area |
Pioneers who came up the St. Francis River first founded Marianna around 1870. The St. Francis National Forest forms one of the borders of the city. The annual Arts in the Park event takes place in May at the downtown square. There's some great music and dancing in the streets and picnicking is encouraged. Bring your chairs, the city does not provide seating. Another event taking place on the square is the annual Autumn on the Square. A talent show, rides, activities for children, live music, climbing wall and pet parade added to food and craft vendors makes for a fun time for all who attend.
