They sure like to keep things under control in this town. The city council of Gould, a town of about 1,000, recently passed an ordinance making it illegal to form any kind of group without its permission. To add more fuel to the fire the council also passed ordinances making it illegal for the mayor to meet with any organization in any location either inside or outside Gould city limits without their permission and required that the citizens' advisory council cease to exist; and then overrode the mayor's veto. The town was named for Jay Gould, a railroad magnate and financier. If you can ignore all this you might visit the Old House and Wagon or fish in Douglas Old River Lake. |
