The annual Turkey Trot festival is held on the second Friday and Saturday of October, at the square, to celebrate the region's abundant wild turkeys. The event features the famous National Wild Turkey Calling contest; a huge parade, live musical entertainment, Miss Turkey Trot pageant and the Miss Drumsticks pageant, an unusual beauty contest where the faces and upper bodies of the contestants are hidden. There are craft vendors selling quilts, paintings, carvings and homemade jams and jellies. |
