| About the area |
The Old Community House was first built as a company facility by the Singer company around 1927; however it also hosted a variety of community activities as well as company events. The Singer company also provided their facilities for graduations, carnivals, dances, theatricals, and basketball games as well as making available to the citizens of Trumann dances, wrestling and boxing matches, motion pictures and other functions. When the Singer company closed its plant around 1982, another company purchased the facility where a number of regular and special community and civic functions are still held. The Trumann Library museum displays items reflecting the life of Trumann's earliest residents and its current ones. There are also exhibits which have scenes constructed to appear like an old time general store, kitchen and antique farm items. |
