| About the area |
Sherwood began life when a group of families moved to the area in the early 1900's and established a farming community. It was not incorporated until around 1948 and held its first citywide election in the same year. The city has a large number of community parks which offer its residents walking and running tracks, playgrounds, pools, tennis courts, and fishing in lakes located in some of the parks. A gymnasium, walking track, Olympic-sized pool and exercise equipment room are some of the facilities which can be found in the Bill Harmon Recreation center. Another recreational complex, Sherwood Forest, has a meeting room capable of holding close to 900 people, an outdoor pavilion, a playground, horseshoe pits, a basketball court, miniature golf and volleyball court. |
