During the warm Spring and Summer months There are gatherings of musicians in the downtown court square playing the tunes of century old folk songs on banjos, dulcimers, guitars, fiddles and other acoustic instruments almost every night of the week. Bring your chairs and listen to traditional hill music, folk music and the occasional bluegrass or gospel group. The Stone County Recreation complex has facilities such as a public swimming pool, tennis courts, ball fields, picnic area and playground. At the Municipal City park, you can find a picnic area with tables, grills and water. Next to City park there is a stone amphitheater, built in the 1930′s by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), is the scene of concerts and many people go there to just relax.
