About the area |
San Leandro enjoyed great attention during the Gold Rush in California and after its gold fields were emptied the Gold Rush moved on to the Bay area. Today the cityââ¬â¢s gold is cherries which are grown in abundance here and I also a major supplier of them all over the United States. Todayââ¬â¢s San Leandro is heavily built up city with industries and business areas and resident colonies. The emptiness of it is all gone forever and now it is just a concrete jungle. Lots of Lake Chabot stuff around -- Park, lake, golf course. So is it pronounced "Cha-Bot" or "Sha-Bow"? Do you know? |
