An ancient history of gold mines begins in Silverton. The gold affair has been going on since the 1872. Until the 19th century the affair went on high spirits. It was started by the Germans and a decade later, there were several people laying their claims and stakes on the gold mines. That is how Silverton found its settlement initially. The remnants of the mines are still here and can be viewed through site seeing trips.
