About the area |
The city was named for John Blount,a distinguished Seminole Indian chief who lived at a reservation in Calhoun county. Odd name for an Indian chief. But then again a Blount by any other name is still a Blount. Bet you never heard of Patricia Dane, Hollywood actress; Michael Guilford, University of Florida football player; Carey Loftin, Hollywood stuntman or Elam Stoltzfus, film producer. Neither did most people. But they were among the notable residents of Blountstown. |
