You might think the town is short for mayonnaise; but you would be wrong although it might be on the slippery side of Lafayette county. It was actually was named for a Confederate colonel who most people wouldn't know from a hole in the wood. The town is known for its old mighty Oak trees. Takes a large yellow ribbon to go around any of these old oak trees. |
