About the area

You won't be lonely in Lafayette County. Although there are few people living here they are crowded into a relatively small area. Mayo is the site of the famous historic House of the 7 Gables built in the 1880's. This edifice was inspired by the Hawthorne novel. And no, it has nothing to do with the 7 Samurai.
