The county is named for the lake of the same name which lies to the south of the city of Okeechobee.
Lake Okeechobee is a large freshwater lake which provides many recreational activities for Floridians as well as for visitors to the state. Okeechobee County Airport lies within a short driving distance from the courthouse. |

Traffic cases are heard on Mondays by Judges as well as hearing officers. That's really classified as Okeechobee County Court, as the Circuit Court hears the more serious offenses, or so we surmise. |
