To the south of the courthouse, at the Judge Lynn N. Silvertooth Judicial Center, is Payne Park. This site served as a training center for several major league baseball teams until. 1988. It now is the location for tennis courts and running trails. A monument stands where homeplate was located. The Ringling Estate is located to the west of the courthouse on Sarasota Bay. The John & Mable Ringling Art Museum, the Circus Museum, the Ca d'Zan mansion, the Historic Asolo Theater Pavilion and several gardens are located in this compound. The Estate is well worth a visit even if you are not a circus fan. |
