About the area

Deland was founded by Henry DeLand after a short visit to the area in 1876. It is the county seat of Volusia county and the home of Stetson University. Nearby Hontoon Island State park boasts 1000 acres on the St. Johns river. Southridge, a local golf course has 18 holes on 6296 yards. Interstate 4 zooms to Daytona Beach, and there are at least a few lakes nearby.
