About the area |
When you come to Audubon you know you are in beef country when you are greeted by Albert, the World's Largest Bull, a giant replica of of the perfect Hereford bull. Pushing a button at the kiosk next to this giant will get the story of this behemoth. To celebrate the shipment of cattle to Chicago in the early 1950's the city holds the annual Operation T-Bone festival. You can be sure there is plenty of beef served and a cattle auction at this celebration. Just South of Audubon you can find Nathaniel Hamlin park. The park's museum has on exhibit antique farm machinery, the worldâs largest nail collection, a little red schoolhouse and antique windmills. There's also a wilderness area here populated by a couple of resident elk and several acres of native timber. |
