Vinton District Court

If you are looking for the district court of Benton county, you will find it at the Vinton District Court which is in the Sixth judicial district of Iowa. Try to go at a reasonable speed when traveling through Benton county on IS 380, US 30, US 218, SR 21 and SR 150.

If yo were living in this area in the middle of the 1880's you would have known your town as Northport. After World War II the town resumed its role as a rural farming community and the social hub of Benton County. However the 1970's saw the beginning of economic turbulence for Vinton. Since the beginning of the 1990's the town has restarted its economy and revitalization. More recently there has been a rebuilding of neighborhoods and the construction of new housing developments. The Vinton Skate and Activity center and the Recreation center with its gymnasium, fitness and exercise room, racquetball courts, volleyball courts, meeting room and game area are places where residents can go to burn off that extra energy. Celebration time is the annual Party in the Park event. The event offers free hot dogs, chips & drinks, a kiddie parade and musical performances by bands and individual artists during its three days.
