| About the area |
The city of Manchester was incorporated around 1866 although thirty years earlier the first permanent settler arrived in what is now Delaware County. At first it was a hard life here; made difficult by the prairie land and the elements. However the first settlers were a hardy bunch and through the hardships built a community with shops, schools, churches, homes and industry. The people of Manchester are a hospitable group and will lead you to entertainment and recreational opportunities. In addition to the seven municipal parks and a skate park the city has the Beckman Sports complex with softball and baseball fields and a broadcast booth. In the warm months the Manchester Family Aquatic center draws large crowds with its 3 water slides, diving board, spray fountains, sand volleyball and concessions. |
