About the area |
Dubuque sits right on the border with Illinois and Wisconsin. Dubuque was selected asone of its 10 All-America Cities for 2013 by the National Civic League. This city places a great deal of emphasis on the arts and culture. Each year a group of works from sculptors is selected to be displayed at the city's Art on the River outdoor sculpture project at the Mississippi RiverWalk in the Port of Dubuque. The National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium has exciting displays to thrill young and old. In its RiverWays gallery you to can enter a canal, explore a river cave and learn about the people who live along the watery interior of the United States. The Rivers to the Sea exhibit has four salt-water aquariums with a Gulf of Mexico tank holding sharks, rays, and the beautiful schooling fish from the Mississippi. The RiverWorks has hands-on, water-based activities and the Large Format 3D/4D Immersion Theater presents 3D high definition sights and 4D special effects. |
