Charles City District Court

Charles City District Court is formally known as the district court of Floyd county. It is located in the Second judicial district of Iowa. Taking it easy on US 18 and US 281 in Floyd county may not be the thing you want to do but it's the smart thing.

Two important cultural venues in this city are the Charles City Arts center and the Charles theatre. The arts center is located in the Carnegie Library Building where there is a gallery exhibiting works by local and regional artists. Arts classes are held here as well as the annual Art-A-Fest. The theater, an art deco building constructed in the 1930's, shows movies and also live performances throughout the year. The Floyd County Historical museum will dazzle you with over 110,000 items on exhibit. It is in the former Dr. Salsbury's Laboratories building. In homage to Charles City being the birthplace of the gasoline-driven tractor the museum displays several models manufactured here. There is also an 1853 log cabin, period rooms, one room school house and a fully restored drug store from the turn-of-the-century on display.
