Fairfield District Court

Fairfield District Court is also known as Jefferson District Court and is in the Eighth judicial district of Iowa. There are only a few major roads, US 34, SR 1 and SR 163, to ramble on in Jefferson county, just do not speed on anyone of them.

The Evergreen Ridge Stock Farm Historic District, including the Maasdam Barns, in Fairfield is worth a visit. The farmstead is on the National Register of Historic Places. The owner of this farm was a prominent importer and breeder of award-winning Belgian, Percheron and other draft horses. The barns are equipped with a unique piece of apparatus for their time, Louden overhead monorail hay carriers, which were first developed and manufactured by the Louden Machinery Company in this city. The museum on the site has exhibits of displays, photos, artifacts, and stories about the farm's history, early Fairfield industries related to agriculture and information about Jefferson County and Fairfield. The Fairfield Arts & Convention center is the scene of entertainment including music, comedy, theater and dance performances. The performance area has been named the Stephen Sondheim Center for the Performing Arts in honor of the famous and world reknowned American composer and lyricist.
