Cedar Rapids District Court

Cedar Rapids District Court is more formally known as the Linn County District Court and is in the Sixth judicial district of Iowa. Major roads such as IS 380, SR 13 and SR 20 running through Linn county meet with US 30 and US 151. SR 84 runs through part of Southern Linn county and SR 94 comes down from the North to run into Cedar Rapids while SR 1 cuts across the Southeast corner.

Linn county was part of the land in the 6,000,000 acres of land Black Hawk Purchase and an additional approximately 1,000,000 acres purchased by the Unite States government. It was organized around 1839. Cedar Rapids was just a small village in the 1840, but around 1859 the first rail line in the county cane to this city. Ushers Ferry Historic village consists of 20 buildings which paint a picture of life in a small Iowa town between the years of 1890 and 1910. As you might well imagine in a town this size there is a need for a lot of swimming room and the city comes though with two outdoor aquatic centers, three outdoor pools and one indoor pool. The outdoor recreational facilities here also take on a large dimension with the Tuma Soccer complex which has more than 25 soccer fields, a pavilion and concessions; the Tait Cummins Softball complex has four illuminated fields and a playground; Riverside Skate park equipped with structures for in-line skating, skateboarding and biking; the Cedar Rapids Ice arena; Veterans Memorial stadium, official home of the Cedar Rapids Kernels professional baseball team; the Veterans Memorial Tennis Center, a USTA Welcome center with twelve outdoor courts and four municipal golf courses.
