Osage District Court

Osage District Court is the district court of Mitchell county and is in the Second judicial district of Iowa. US 218 meets SR 9 in the city of Osage.

Mitchell county was formed in the years 1850 to 1851. A father and son prospecting team passing through the county believed the area was a great place to settle and made their first claim where the spring is located in Spring park in Osage. The first plot of the town was laid out around 1854, but it was left to later investors in the next two years to complete the layout of the city. One of these investors had maple trees planted to line the streets which even to this day results in Osage being known as “the City of Maples”. Friday nights in the Summer there is a good happening for families in this city at the Friday Night Out in City Park event running from June through August. Each of these night features food and beverage vendors, games and activities for kids and live music. Nobody minds if you get up and dance to the music. A great way to celebrate the Fourth of July and enjoy a meal is to attend Osage's parade and the Mitchell County Farm Bureau's annual Town & Country Barbeque afterward. This event takes place at the CRC Events Center on the Mitchell County fairgrounds where you can feast on pork or beef sandwich or a hot dog accompanied by potato salad, coleslaw, baked beans and a beverage for the price of a meal ticket.
