Red Oak District Court

Red Oak District Court serving as the district court of Montgomery county lies in the Fourth judicial district of Iowa. US 34 and US 59 run through the county and meet SR 48 near Red Oak and US 71 in the Eastern part of the county.

A tour of Heritage Hill can provide the visitor with the perspective of the variety of architectural styles of the structures built in Red Oak from the 1870’s through 1916. The buildings are done in styles from Queen Anne to Georgian, Italianate, English Tudor, Colonial Revival, and Frank Lloyd Wright’s Prairie. For entertainment in the evening you can plan on visiting the Red Oak Grand theatre an updated movie house or the Wilson Performing Arts center for one of the concerts presented in its auditorium. The former Chicago, Burlington & Quincy railroad depot which has been restored to house a WWII Memorial museum, dedicated to those who served in the Second World War. The museum is a picturesque building in the Richardson Romanesque style of architecture. The Montgomery County Historical Society center has exhibits representative of the Neolithic Stone Age, the history of the county, military history and farm equipment as well as a slew of other subjects. There is an 1884 barn exhibit with a resident cow which you can try your hand at milking and an art gallery featuring works of Iowa artists.
