Creston District Court serves as the district court of Union county. It is one of the court in the Fifth judicial district of Iowa. US 34, US 169 and and SR 25 run through Union county.
About the area
Reflecting the importance of the railroad to this community, when the railroad came here a large and distinguished depot was erected to accommodate the many passengers who stopped here and departed from this city. Although no longer used for that purpose the depot has been restored and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Visitors are free to tour the depot and see and hear the many trains that still pass by. One of the first operating Phillips stations in Iowa, built at the beginning of the 1930's has been renovated to its original appearance. This station is significant because the founder of Phillips Corporation began his business career in Creston as a barber. The visitor center at the station is dedicated to him. The Union County Historical complex in McKinley park is representative of a rural community of the 1800's. To accomplish this buildings such as as a schoolhouse, home, general store, printing shop, log cabin, church, blacksmith shop and a depot have been moved here and and a museum created.
