Washington District Court

Washington District Court is in the Eighth judicial district of Iowa. US 218, SR 1, SR 22, SR 27 and SR 92 will take you almost anywhere in Washington county.

When Washington county was founded, around 1839, it was called Slaughter county but that name did noit last too long before the present name was bestowed in honor of George Washington. The city was founded in the same year as the county. Central park in down Washington is a great place to relax and its centerpiece is the fountain which at night puts on a multi-colored light show. You might be surprised to know that even a fountain can be on the National Register of Historical Places along with such structures in town as the DAR log house, circa 1840, the Blair House, Conger House museum and F-troop Military museum. The shops in the square surrounding the park presents an interesting diversion with its many retail shops. If you stay around for the the evening on Thursdays in the Summer you will have the pleasure of hearing the Washington Municipal band performing at its Summer series of concerts. The administrative office of Troop F, World War I’s 113th Iowa National Guard Cavalry is now the The F Troop Military museum. Its exhibits display military memorabilia from the Civil War, WW I, WW II, the Korean Conflict, Vietnam, Desert Storm, Iran and Iraq.
