Mountain Home District Court

Mountain Home District Court is the district court of Elmore county in the Fourth judicial district of Idaho. You can find the magistrate court of Elmore county in the same building as this court. Drivers usually take IS 84, US 20, SR 51, SR 67 or SR 167 to get around this county.

Mountain Home was originally Rattlesnake Station, a a stop along the Overland Stage road. With the arrival of the Oregon Short Line railroad around 1883, the post office was moved downhill and West to where the city now sits and renamed Mountain Home. The Mountain Home Historical museum, located in a Carnegie Library Building, circa 1907, has on display items related to agriculture, the military and mining and Native American artifacts. Bruneau Dunes State park, a few miles South of Mountain Home, is the site of dunes rising as high as 400 feet above small lakes. The park is inviting for fishing, bird watching, camping, hiking and swimming and it has a public observatory open to visitors. Three Island State park East of Mountain Home, near Glenns Ferry on the Snake river is worth a visit. The The Oregon Trail History & Education Center has exhibits related to the pioneer emigrants and Native American history.
