Emmett Magistrate Court is formally known as the Gem County Magistrate Court and is in Idaho's Third judicial district. District court meets in this courthouse twice a month. SR 52 and SR 72 run through Gem county.
About the area
The Gem County Historical Village museum, in Emmett, has large collections of photos, books, newspapers, magazines and records and consists of a five building complex. The annual Cherry festival held in June features a parade, the Gem County Sheriff Posse's rodeo, a model railroad display, a quilt show, softball tournament, a car show and a firemen hose competition. At one time wagoneers had to lock or “freeze” their wagon wheels and slide down a hill when entering the Emmett Valley. This spot is now called Freezeout Hill and is marked with a signboard with an explanation of the name. The Harvest Festival Street fair held in October is characterized by the arts and crafts and food vendors and the non-stop entertainment provided by bands and other acts. The kids will get a kick out of the hay rides provided at this fair.
