In the Second judicial district of Idaho Nezperce District Court is the district court of Lewis county. In the same building as this court you can find the Magistrate court of Lewis county. You can travel though Lewis county on US 95, SR 62, SR 64 and SR 162. |
| About the area |
The city of Nezperce is surrounded by the Nez Perce Indian reservation. In the late Fall of 1895 what had been the Nez Perce Reservation land became open for settlement by non-Indians. One of the settlers selected and laid out the Nezperce City townsite. Although the laying out of lots was does in such a way as to hide the real affect of the taking of this land. The Nezperce Museum building was originally a Masonic Lodge. It now has on display antiques, artifacts, photographs, family histories, memorabilia and Lewis County records There are outdoor exhibits here as well such as a blacksmith shop, an outdoor privy and the old jail house. The Nezperce Community center hosts citywide events but is also available for rent. |
