McCall Magistrate Court

McCall Magistrate Court is an annex of the Valley county magistrate court in Cascade but meets only on occasion.

The city lies at the South end of Payette lake. During the summer months members of the Shoshone, a sub group of theirs and the Nez Perce were known to inhabit the land in this area. In the early 1800's fur trappers roamed the land around here and in the 1860's gold miners, who named the area Lake City temporarily worked the area. Sometime aroun 1890, a family established the settlement of McCall. They also established a school, hotel, saloon and post office and bought an existing sawmill. One enterprising gentleman provided recreational sailboat rides around the lake for tourists. In the 1930's the movie Northwest Passage about the French and Indian War was filmed here. Visitors come here the year round to enjoy the excellent conditions for skiing, snow boarding, snowshoeing, golf, hiking, biking, camping, river rafting and kayaking, fishing and boating.
