The city of Galesburg was founded by George Washington Gale (man of God, serving as a Presbyterian minister in NY) and it is home of the Knox College and Carl Sandburg College; very respected and prestigious educational homes that constitute the pride of the county seat of Knox County. Established in the 1820s with part of Fulton County lands, has today 720 square miles of territory and approximately 55900 residents.
