The Heart of Illinois is nested in the lovely land framed by Moultrie, Shelby, Logan, Piatt, Sangamon, and Christian Counties. Named after Nathaniel Macon, a Colonel in the Revolutionary War; and founded in the late 1820s, this territory of 115100 inhabitants and close to 31000 families, has 585 square miles of extension. Decatur (county seat), Niantic, Friends Creek, Hickory Point, Illini, and Austin townships are some of the communities in Macon County. |
